Summary


The TX Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP) Waiver provides Medicaid services for children and young adults under 21 with medical needs. It offers long-term services and supports, including personal care, private duty nursing, and various therapies. Unique to the MDCP Waiver are services such as respite care, flexible family support, and minor home modifications, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for participants and their families. Eligibility Requirements


  1. Be under age 21.
  2. Meet the level of care criteria for medical necessity for nursing facility care as determined by HHSC.
  3. Be determined financially eligible for Medicaid.

Unlimited prescriptions

Named service coordinator

Personal Care Services (PCS)

Basic attendant care to help with activities of daily living (e.g., meal preparation, bathing, cleaning)

Private Duty Nursing (PDN)

Individualized, continuous skilled care for those meeting medical necessity criteria

Therapies
